Cytosis Shipping Update
over 6 years ago – Sat, Oct 28, 2017 at 01:01:36 AM

Hello Cytosis backers,

Shipping Update

I am incredibly sorry about the delays in shipping. I’ll be honest, it’s been really disheartening to be in regular contact with the fulfillment companies, and repeatedly hear from them that everything is moving along, only to hear from the backers that nothing is happening.

But... I see now that many backers have received packages and that make me VERY HAPPY!

Update For Each Shipping Depot

United Kingdom Shipment from the UK Depot - Shipping should now be complete.

European Union Shipments from the German Depot - Shipping has begun and I've heard from many of you that you've received your package. But the last shipments have just gone out, so many packages may still be in transit.

Australia and New Zealand Shipments from the AU Depot - Backers in Australia and New Zealand should have received at least your shipping notification by now, and most likely your actual package.

United States Shipments from the US Depot - Most shipments have gone and I've heard form many of you who've received them! But I have not received word that shipping is complete in the US.

Canada Shipments from the CA Depot - Most shipments have been dispatched but I don't recall hearing news from any backers in Canada. Has anyone in CA received their package yet?

Rest of the World (please forgive my practical but obviously ignorant clumping of regions) - Shipments to many other areas of the world were shipped from either a warehouse in China, or the closest depot. Most of which have gone out, but we are still waiting on verification from any shipped from the German Depot of the US Depot.

Depending on your location, even if your package has been shipped, it may still be en route, some packages have pretty far to go from their shipping depot. If you haven’t seen a shipment notification in your inbox, double check your spam folder just in case.

In roughly a week or so we will start collecting information about packages that never arrived, or were lost in transit, etc...

Our German fulfillment partner (who is shipping to most countries within the EU) had shipping delays in part because they just reorganized their warehouse. It’s been communicated to them that we did have quite a lot of you waiting, and some of you had hoped to take Cytosis with you for Essen. SO they said that they would work overtime last weekend to try to get all packages shipped out before Spiel Essen began, but looks like some of you still didn't get your copy before Essen.

At the end of the day though, this is my project and I take the responsibility for the delays. And I am truly sorry for all of this.

Damaged Shipment & Missing Pieces...

Unfortunately, it's common for a small percentage of games to arrive damaged. I’m SO SORRY if your package was one of these… I always hate to hear that a game box corner or something was smashed due to mishandling.

If your game was damaged during shipping in such a way that it requires a replacement, please email [email protected], subject line "Cytosis Shipping Damage - [Your Backer Number]" and she’ll make sure you’re taken care of!

If your game is missing components, or it looks like components were somehow damaged at the manufacturer, please email [email protected] subject line "Cytosis Missing or Damaged Pieces - [Your Backer Number]"

Cytosis on Board Game Geek

Would you please show me some love on BGG by reviewing Cytosis once you have the feel of the game? I'd love to see if we could even get on the Hotness rankings... Please leave a comment, or if you're interesting keeping up with the game, become a fan or subscribe!

We’ll be at PAX Unplugged

Genius Games will be exhibiting at the first ever PAX Unplugged! We’ll be over at Booth #208… it would totally make my day to meet you, so please come over and say hi. Maybe you can try to beat me in a game of Cytosis ;-)

One last thing...

It's been so fun to see pics of you with your copy of Cytosis! If you're interested in letting me use some of those images for our social media or newsletter, send it over to us at [email protected] (subject line - Cytosis Pics for Social Media) and you'll probably show up on our FB page :-)

Overflowing with appreciation,

John

Cytosis is Shipping!!! And a Discount on Games and Books for Cytosis Backers
over 6 years ago – Thu, Oct 05, 2017 at 12:05:55 AM

Hi Cytosis Backers,

A lot has been going on around the Genius Games office....

Cytosis Shipping Update

The fulfillment centers in the UK and Australia started shipping Cytosis out to backers last week, and the fulfillment centers in the US and Germany are planning to start shipping packages out this week (Let's keep our fingers crossed). Shipments to Canada will be 3-4 days behind US shipments since those games got delivered to the US and then split off to Canada.

I have been REALLY excited to see from the comments that many of you from the UK and Australia have already received your package! Not too much longer to wait...

For those of you still anticipating your package, you should get an email when your package ships so you can keep an eye out for it!

Our new Genius Games website is live!

I’ve got a list of tweaks we still need to make, but overall it’s fully functional and quite streamlined.

Discounts for Cytosis Backers

I feel terrible that we are a month behind on the delivery of Cytosis. So I am renewing the discount code we offered previously to Cytosis Backers! If you’re interested in picking up some of our other games, or maybe you want to introduce your little ones to some hard core biology or chemistry via story books, you can use the discount code CytosisBackers for a 25% off any purchase over $30!

* Also, we extended the Website Photo Contest deadline to 10/30/17 (wanted to give you a chance to also submit some photos with Cytosis!) If you missed the last update, basically, I’d love to fill the website with high res photos that you’ve taken of your friends and family playing with our games and books. All the contest details are in the previous Cytosis update :-)

Subatomic at Stonemaier Design Day 2017

Last week we took Subatomic to the annual Stonemaier Design Day hosted by Jamey Stagmaier. It was a pretty exhausing week leading up to it… there’s never quite enough time during the work day, so we stayed up til 1am three or four nights leading up the event tweaking Subatomic. I’ve found that deck building games are EXTREMELY sensitive when it comes to balance… you modify one aspect of the game, and it usually makes something else overpowering, or irrelevant, or just plain fiddly.

The actual Design Day was a terrific 12 hours of playtesting, critiquing and gaming with 95 other designers, playtesters, and gamers from around the country.

Out of 33 prototypes playtested during the event, Subatomic was rated as the No 4 game!

We’ll be at NABT in November!

We’ll be exhibiting at the National Association of Biology Teachers conference in November! We’d love to say hi if you’re attending – we’ll be at booth #95.

Overflowing with appreciation,

John

Shipping Update, a Photo Contest and help from our Genius Games Ambassadors!
over 6 years ago – Sun, Sep 17, 2017 at 01:13:35 AM

Shipping Update

Many of you asked about the BackerKit shipping status. From what I can see on my end, everyone who submitted their address is under the status "Ready to Ship", which means the fulfillment has your address and is just waiting for the stock to show up! But no shipments have gone out as of the time of this writing.

We are more than a few weeks behind schedule unfortunately, and I am terribly sorry about the delays and the silence as I try find and confirm answers.

Based upon, the conversation I had with our Fulfillment company, Cytosis is scheduled to arrive at the warehouse in Australia any day now, at the EU warehouses (both Germany and the UK) in late September and the US and Canada warehouses the first week of October. After arrival at any given warehouse, the games should take roughly a week to process, then we’ll start shipping out packages! But with almost over 6,500 shipments, it will take a couples more weeks to get all those waves out the door.

You’ll receive an email from our fulfillment center with your tracking number right around the time your package ships out, so you’ll be able to keep an eye on it’s progress. Again, I feel terrible about the delay, but the light is at the end of the tunnel and I am very excited to get you your game! :-)

Your Last Chance to Update Shipping Addresses

With shipping approaching, we are finalizing the shipping documents, so now is your absolute last chance to update your shipping address. If you have not done so, or would like to check you address please go here.

Genius Games Photo Contest

We've been working to re-vamp of our entire website - it's well on its way to being sleek and streamlined... but we are now looking for some great photos of our fans to make it looks even better!

One of my favorite fans playing Ion: A Compound Building Game
One of my favorite fans playing Ion: A Compound Building Game

So... I am going to give away a bunch of games and stuff (like, a couple Collector's Editions of Cytosis, a handful of our previous games, and/or sets of our children's science books) to people who submit photos!

Here are the details:

  • Photos should include Genius Games games or books prominently.
  • Photos must be originals and in high resolution.
  • Family friendly content.
  • One raffle entry per photo.

And obviously, participants must agree that Genius Games may use submitted photos for any lawful purpose such as publicity, advertising, and Web content. Photos should be submitted HERE by 9/30/17

GenCon

It was incredibly fun to meet so many of you at GenCon. Hopefully most of you were able to get a demo of the game you helping bring into being...

Just to be clear, we did not sell or even give away a single copy of Cytosis during GenCon. Backers will be the first people to receive copies, no exceptions! In the video, I do say that the game should be shipping in mid-September, which is now... :-( This makes me so sad! But... there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Anyone work for a book store, science center or other local science based store?

If so…. we’re looking for anyone who would be interested in advocating on our behalf to sell our games and/or books in those shops!! We’ve had a lot of fun knocking on doors of shops around St Louis to demo our games, and would be eternally grateful if any of you have an interest in introducing your local stores to Genius Games.

If you reach out to a shop, and they end up ordering our games or books, we’ll happily send you 2 games of your choice of Peptide, Ion, Covalence, or Virulence, or a full set of books, as a thank you!!!

If this is something you're interested in, shoot an email to [email protected] subject line "Genius Games Ambassador" and we can get you more info.

Do any of you teachers use our Games in your science classroom?!

If so, we'd LOVE to get some feedback from you.

Would you shoot an email to [email protected] with feedback on these two things?!

1) Here's how I integrated [game] into my classroom...

2) Here's how [game] helped my students/helped my students learn...

As usual.... overflowing with appreciation,

John

Collector's Edition Video and a Flash Sale on Science Books!
over 6 years ago – Fri, Aug 11, 2017 at 10:23:57 PM

Hey Cytosis Backers,

We’ll be at Gencon!

GenCon is 6 days away…. and I. Am. Stoked. We made a trip to the warehouse last week and our office is now stacked to the brim with game cartons. It's literally a maze to get to the prototype supplies or to our standing desk. Ha.

Anyway, it’d be super fun to have you stop by the GenCon booth we’re sharing with Artana Games (#1159) and peruse the copies of Cytosis that we had air shipped specifically for GenCon!! Just a reminder that we won’t have copies of Cytosis for pick-up or for sale at GenCon, because….

Cytosis Update

…the remaining copies of Cytosis are still on the ship from Panda and are heading toward their intended fulfillment center. Thanks for being so understanding about the delay from the silver change-up on the Collector's Edition covers. Panda was really quick to made the modification and I think the new silver on the Collector's Editions looks terrific. And here's the unboxing video of the collector's edition that you've all been waiting for!!!

Backerkit

Many thanks to the thousands of you who filled out your Backerkit address survey! Definitely appreciate that! Backerkit shows that there are still 360 backers who haven’t filled out your Backerkit yet! Please do that as soon as you can! I want to get each of you your game, but it will take me a TON of extra time to ship out game to those of you who didn't fill out your address survey before I export the addresses for the initial wave of shipments.

You should all have gotten an email titled email "Response Needed -- Get your reward for Cytosis: A Cell Biology Board Game". You can use the Backerkit link in that email to enter your shipping address, double check that you entered your address, update your shipping address or make any other pledge modifications! I'll be charging the credit cards in Backerkit in the next couple weeks.

Subatomic PnP

I owe a bunch of you the link to Subatomic Print-n-Play! I made a more developments the last week that I’ll integrate into the PnP and send to you. Realistically I don’t think I’ll get it out until after Gencon though.

If you’re interested in playtesting Subatomic, email Shelley at [email protected] and she’’ll send you the PnP link when it’s ready!

Also, please feel free to follow progress by subscribing or becoming a fan (the heart) of Subatomic on BGG and/or leaving a comment.

Would you do me a small favor?!

Our newest children's Science Book series, Science Wide Open, just went live on Amazon.  So, for the next couple days we're offering ALL of our eBooks for up to 90% off to help drive traffic and jump-start the ranking algorithm on Amazon. Please check them out, and if you enjoy them, it would be EVEN MORE HELPFUL if you left an honest review!

You can find ALL of them an Amazon Here!

Cytosis Box Issue and Production Update
almost 7 years ago – Mon, Jul 24, 2017 at 05:43:41 PM

Hello Cytosis Backers,

Cytosis Production Timeline

The Cytosis production timeline has been progressing smoothly, but we ran into one hitch that will cost our timeline a couple weeks. Everything’s resolved, and I am very happy with the resolution, but I want to give you backers the scoop.

So, when the MPC arrived, everything was amazing except an issue with the silver ink on the Collector’s Edition box. The video below shows the sample with the shiny finish that catches the light as well as the darker and more dull ink currently on the Collector's Edition boxes. Oh, man. I was sick to my stomach about this…. Knowing that any changes to the box at this point would throw our production schedule off track, but I couldn’t fathom sending you a box cover that disappointed me and might also disappoint you.

Sample vs Cytosis Box Cover

So, long story short, every single Collector’s Edition box cover is being re-done with silver that shines the way I intended. But, like I mentioned before, this pushed our timeline back a couple weeks and so most of the shipments won't arrive until September rather than August.

You guys have been incredibly understanding and supportive thus far, and I can only ask that you'll be as patient with me over this delay!

Backerkit

As of today, 6,153 of you have filled out your Backerkit survey! Thanks, everyone. However…. there are still several hundred of you who haven’t touched it yet. If you’re one of those several hundred, please go in and enter your shipping info asap! (You should have an email in your inbox titled “Reminder -- Response needed to deliver your reward for Cytosis: A Cell Biology Board Game”) I can’t wait to ship you your game, but…..I can only do that if I have your address :-)

We’ll be locking down Backerkit within a few weeks. After that, no modifications to pledges or addresses can be made!

Subatomic PnP

We've had a ton more of you volunteer to playtest the Subatomic PnP than we expected, which is terrific.

I did have the PnP ready to send out... or so I thought. Somehow every time we've played Subatomic the past several weeks I've made significant changes. We'll integrate a change into the rulebook, player mat, cards... and then we play again, and make another set of significant changes all over again.

Subatomic Prototype
Subatomic Prototype

I want to get a good handle on which of these changes will stay and which don't work well over the long term before I send the PnP to you all. All that being said, I’m planning to get the link out to you in the next week or so.

We'll be at Gen Con! Please come say hi!

Genius Games will be at Gen Con this year! Please stop by the booth that we’re sharing with Artana Games - #1159. I’d love to meet you! And yes, we will have a couple copies of Cytosis to demo at the booth, so you can come and play if you wish! However, we will not have any copies of Cytosis there for sale or for pickup. We will not sell any copies of Cytosis to anyone until shipping has started to our backers first.

Overflowing with appreciation,

John
